On Monday, August 28, in the celebration of the patron San Bartolomeo will be held the 158 edition of Hazelnut Fair. Again this year will host a series of events devoted to the hazelnut world. The central event of the Fair will be the Discussion-Debate, which will be held at 10 am in the elementary school, entitled "Dear hazel ... .What costs me?". The theme of discussion will be "the profitability of hazelnut" with an analysis of the costs of various production processes: from cultivation, to marketing, to the transformation of the product. Of course in the light of appropriate agronomic choices and pursuing the goal of global product quality. At the meeting will be university professors, major producers and primary operators of the chain. The conference is part of the project of the municipal administration, which aims to propose to local growers information and education about the cultivation of hazelnuts, which today represents the second pillar of the agricultural economy for the territory. In the morning, moreover, the winners of the contests will be proclaimed quantity and quality of hazelnut. The latter will be characterized by widespread participation by producers resident in the four municipalities of the "Tra Langa and Monferrato" hilly community of which Castagnole Lanze is a part. This is a significant novelty, which broadens the reference basin and is aimed at working more and more in synergy with Community Municipalities. With the patronage of the Marchisio Nocciole Company of Cortemilia, money prizes will be awarded to the top 10 ranked by selection criteria, which will be based on four parameters defined by a special panel of experts: moisture, slicing, calibration, taste analysis (Toasted hazelnuts). At the end, the official price of the product will be announced, the first time that the relevance of the vintage is determined from an economic point of view.
